She worked for Fleishman-Hillard Inc. where she handled the graphic design accounts for their top client, Anheuser-Busch and its subsidiaries. She also designed for Ackerman, Hood and McQueen and worked as a freelance makeup artist for three leading cosmetic companies. Most recently, Valerie has managed three independent art galleries in the Kansas City area over the past fifteen years.

Sergio Gomez is a Chicago-based visual artist and creative entrepreneur. He is owner and Director of Art NXT Level Projects/33 Contemporary Gallery, curator and Director of Exhibitions at the Zhou B. Art Center, founder of Creative Consultant for Idea Seat Marketing & Advertising, Contributor for Italia Arte Magazine, curator and producer of the National Wet Paint MFA Biennial. Sergio co-founded the program Art NXT Level to help artists manage their careers. Additionally, Sergio is host of the Artist Next Level Podcast.

The gallery publishes artist catalogs and participates in art fairs in the US and Europe on an ongoing basis. Christian has curated a number of private collections and public exhibitions and he works with more than 200 national and international artists of which he represents more than 50 exclusively through the gallery. Most recently he was asked to curate the annual artist council exhibition at the Palm Springs Art Museum. He has been a guest speaker at numerous events and has been giving lectures about art and gallery management in and out of the gallery.

Barbara Perez comes to the YWCA with more than 30 years of progressive experience leading nonprofit organizations. Perez most currently served as the Chief Mission Officer for the Arthritis Foundation Great Lakes Region, and prior to that had leadership positions with the Butler and Hamilton County Mental Health Boards, Central Clinic and Cincinnati Behavioral Health. Throughout her career Barbara has developed and led numerous programs to serve the needs of children, women and families with physical and mental health challenges.

*Barbara will be presenting an Exhibition Award to four regional artists
