The Allure of Art & Couture

Posted on 11 November 2011

Last weekend’s The Allure of Art & Couture event was an enormous success and a privilege to host! ADC invited the women of Cincinnati to come and enjoy a fashion show by designer Amy Kirchen, and drink from their “I feel pretty” martini. Each gown was paired with a piece of corresponding artwork from our gallery for one aesthetically intense art & couture mash-up! Before & after the runway show, guests shopped around the gallery at The Amy Kirchen Boutique, Three French Hens, and from jewelry designer Karen Lindner—amazing women with sophisticated style and tastes to die for! One of our favorite things here at ADC, is when you not only surround yourself with beautiful artwork—but you also wear it! A Passion for Fashion: Amy Kirchen

The Allure of Art & Couture was proud to be the first public debut of Amy Kirchen’s 2012 collection in Cincinnati! In her own words Amy describes her collection as having “1920’s vision with modern silhouettes.” All fourteen gowns are handmade and use elegant fabrics from Italy—her designs are bold, beautiful, edgy and brave! Amy Kirchen is a self taught fashion designer who began five years ago as a strong and motivated woman with a passion for fashion. In 2010 Amy got her own label and this past May she opened her own boutique in Milford, OH. Amy Kirchen designs her own collections for the sophisticated and chic woman that wants to be unique and sexy. And she also designs wedding and bridesmaids gowns, ladies… ! Gem of an Artist, Real Pearl of a Girl: Karen Lindner

All of Karen Lindner’s pieces incorporate antiques that she sources herself, which is where she discovers her inspiration. “I have always had a passion for history and antiques in general. I left interior design to find a new adventure only to discover that I absolutely love of what I am doing now!” The antiques themselves often dictate exactly how the design will look from size to style to additional elements that she uses (freshwater pearls, stones, metals, etc.)  She uses these pieces as the focal point, while modernizing their aesthetic.  However, somehow her designs always remain timeless, especially the Refinement Collection of sterling and gold antiques. Karen’s latest collection was showcased in NYC in October’s Bridal Market on the runway with the gorgeous Spring 2012 Anne Barge gowns for the second time.  Also, Karen was thrilled to outfit the entire wedding party (eight bridesmaids, both mothers, AND the bride herself) at Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s May 2011 wedding.  Her bridal jewelry was also the cover feature in a major photoshoot with Cincinnati Magazine Weddings winter 2012 edition and and numerous times over the last year in InStyle— twice for her antique sterling Napkin Ring Cuff series. Bodacious Bag Ladies: Three French Hens

The popular Cincinnati boutique located in Hyde Park Square, Three French Hens, provided handbags for the runway models during The Allure of Art & Couture event. However, this boutique offers a large range of styles and items—beyond just bags! They have unique designer clothing, fun jewelry and accessories, shoes, bags, and gifts! The Three French Hen bags were a huge hit with the ladies Friday night! They truly have something for every personality—from day bags and evening clutches to leather and fur, modern and vintage! A Pretty & Sweet Pink Treat: The Pink Ribbon Girls

Our favorite moment of the entire evening, however, had to be presenting The Pink Ribbon Girls with their check for $13,500 made from The (Amazing) SCAR Project Exhibit that came to Cincinnati in early October. The project increased awareness in Cincinnati, raised money, gave hope and helped many women discover new and lifelong friendships.
