Red Hot – Art Design Consultants

Red Hot

Posted on 13 February 2013

It’s that time of year again…Valentine’s Day; the day for love and passion, roses and chocolates. Nothing represents romance & the heat of passion like sizzling, red hot, red. In spirit of the holiday we encourage you to add a little spice to your life by adding a punch of red to your space. Choose a room that needs a boost of energy, or a romantic nook in your home where you and your honey like to snuggle. Because the living room is one of the most used rooms in the house, the room where we spend most our time with family and friends, we tend to design…well, safely. Certain colors (red included) frighten us because they are bright and bold. However, in moderation, these lively colors can add drama, and dynamic contrast, creating a memorable and fearless design. There are often spaces in our home we overlook when giving our design a facelift, most commonly the hallways, entryways, and even work spaces of our home. Why not implement that fire in the areas that are easily forgotten. Make something of the spaces in your home that others often neglect. Just like in the name “Red Hot,” the color red can add necessary warmth.  The last thing anyone wants is to create a space that is “uncomfortable” and many times we associate intense colors like red with discomfort. But red, like love, can make you all warm and glowing—inside and out. By choosing reds that are in the cranberry family we can take a very modern, contemporary red and make it more transitional. If the idea of adding some red to your design scares the living daylights out of you, begin by finding the red that works for you and your vision. Take a trip to the paint store and grab some swatches. And remember a little red can go a long way- so if you have another color that you always gravitate towards, play around with which red pairs well with that other favorite color you adore.
