Overindulge your Outdoors

Posted on 07 June 2011

Summer is here, and the quality time spent with friends and family moves from the stuffy indoors to the sunny outdoors! With so much time spent outside, why not make your backyard or patio stylish and comfortable for guests, loved ones, and—yes!—even yourself? A small oasis in your outdoor space can be a much needed place to retreat and relax after a long day. Looks that Last

I am a firm believer that the more time spent within a space the more love that space deserves! So this summer, give the front porch, deck, garden, or pool area some flavor with spicy outdoor artwork. Copper or metal art, as well as outdoor canvas, are ideal pieces for surviving nature’s wear-and-tear. Metal comes from nature, which is why it is so perfect for withstanding it. Come rain or shine, copper artwork repels water and won’t change in color. The same goes for outdoor canvas that is waterproofed to resist fading, moisture and mildew.

On their website, the copper artist Ken Rausch and painter Kevin Poole are two featured artists with unique and striking outdoor wall pieces. Beyond wall art, Ken Rausch also creates stand up copper panels that look incredible poolside or in a garden. Artwork that Shines

Artwork looks so incredible outdoors because you never struggle with the lack of light. When decorating indoors sometimes you feel an art piece is lost in the shadow of the hallway, or the colors yellowed by light of a lamp. Sunlight showcases art in its purest form—colors are true and vibrancy is not lost. Copper pieces especially love the sunshine. The metal shimmers and sparkles, dazzling the eyes with values that dance and bend as the sun moves throughout the day. Feast your Eyes…

Just like art indoors, artwork outdoors can add dimensions, color, and overall playfulness to the space. We put so much thought, time, and effort into making our home look its best. We care for our lawn, trim the bushes, choose patio furniture that reflects our home and personal style—why not give the same attention to the walls outside? [caption id="attachment_432" align="aligncenter" width="450" caption="Click photo to see more Ken Rausch copper art at Frontgate.com"][/caption]   Artwork increases the cohesiveness of a look. Choosing the right piece of art can make the other design elements come together in a dynamic way. Sometimes when we finish a project, the look we were originally aiming for seems unclear. Art can help bring clarity. Bring together the stone you chose for around the pool, the color of your bench cushion and the flowers you planted along the fence. These elements make sense by choosing artwork that works with them all! What is a gourmet feast without the garnish? Let artwork be the garnish to your outdoor living room.
