The "Best of" blog is always one of my favorite to share with our artists, clients, friends, and family because without you none of this would have been possible. For me, it's a time of reflection and celebration as I think about the past year.
2017 was a BIG year for the company and we accomplished so much. From celebrating the company's 25th Anniversary (woah!), the worldwide release of the book I wrote Secrets of the Art World: Getting Real about the Process, Business, and Selling of Your Work (heck yeah!), creating and hosting the Success Summit, the first professional practice conference for artists (so cool!), to launching an incredible new, and beautiful online art marketplace for Blink Art (alright!), I have so many good things to be celebrate.
I'm so grateful to have an incredible staff who are dedicated workers and amazing creative problem solvers and they never back down from a challenge. I'm also grateful for the wonderful and empowering community that surrounds us here in Cincinnati, but also nationwide. You not only are where we draw our inspiration from so we can dream up and tackle anything but also our cheerleaders from whom we draw our strength from so we can continue doing our very best for you.
I've rounded up some of my favorite memories from 2017, including some killer projects we worked on, to share with you here.
25th Anniversary & Book Launch
Words cannot fully express how overwhelmed with love and gratitude I feel for everyone who made this celebration so special. (Though I wrote a blog in which I tried!) The night was more magical and special than I had ever hoped it could be. It was full of all of my favorite things: family, friends, art, artists, clients, colleagues, great food, and yes, great shoes!
Art Comes Alive
We had a record-breaking year at Art Comes Alive (ACA), and gave away over $345,000+ in awards to artists!
Art Comes Alive is truly all about art and celebrates what artists do—bringing beauty and hope to the world. Art is truly transformational and inspirational. Art makes a difference in the lives others. It has made all the difference to mine.
Thank you, everyone, who participated, who submitted their work, and who spends their life dedicated to creating and supporting art.
We all know that it takes more than talent to make it in the competitive and ever-changing art world. It takes grit, hard work, a positive attitude, and business savvy—not to mention the wisdom and expertise of industry experts. Knowing this, I started the ADC Success Summit to help talented artists do what they love better and be exceptional. We gathered leaders of the art world like Eric Smith, CEO of Redwood Media Group, experienced gallery owners like Sylvia Rombis, owner of the Malton Art Gallery, and fine art collectors that prepared exclusive programs and portfolio reviews for our Success Summit artists.
Art for the home
Residential art consulting
This client went through an interior design renovation and desperately needed new artwork to not only match her refurbished high-rise condo but also to match her personality. The artwork selected transforms each room from beautiful to truly glamorous.
One of my favorite aspects of the art consulting business is being a creative problem solver for my clients. For this client's curved dining room wall, we created a bent frame so the painting would sit flush with the wall.
residential custom framing installation
We worked with the client on producing archival scans of their family's memories and created a beautiful composition that will last a lifetime, and be passed along for generations.
Art for the office
We had such a great opportunity to work with our Cincinnati corporate community and place stunning works of art in their office spaces. The artwork in the office space is a true extension of a company's brand. Color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value. Those are the elements of art. Using those elements to select artwork that reflects the company’s brand is a great way to extend the business identity and character beyond letterheads and brochures and increase employee productivity.
I'm so grateful to our corporate community for letting me bring a little bit of color and beauty into their lives through artwork.
I've highlighted a few of our top projects this year.

Art for Sports Teams
Out of all the projects we worked on this year, I have to say consulting for the NFL team the Cincinnati Bengals was the coolest! It was such an honor to be part of the team's 50th Anniversary and outfit their stadium with exciting visuals of past players. From start to finish we worked with the Bengals and designed the images in-house at ADC to be sure the banners stayed on brand. Brand consulting isn't something we get to often do, but it's so much fun. Look at how great the banners turned out!
Blink Art Resource 2017 & A Brand New Website
I created Blink Art Resource in 2014 and was determined to create a platform for artists to gain recognition and attention from qualified buyers. I could never have imagined where it all would lead. This year we released our third annual edition of Blink Art Resource. Every year we launch the catalog at Artexpo New York. Check out the live video we filmed. The catalog was highly sought after and we handed out every single copy we brought with us to New York.
We first created Blink Art Resource to be an important art selection tool for interior designers, art consultants, gallery owners, and architects but found that our residential clients loved the website for selecting artwork as well. We redeveloped our Blink Art website to make it easier to find and purchase that perfect piece of artwork for your home or office. We're excited to through our hat in the online art market ring because we believe in our artists' work. It's been a wonderful step forward and we haven't looked back!
Lead Magazine Emerging Business Award
I received a great honor this year from LEAD magazine by receiving The Emerging Business Award. Now I know what you're thinking - you just celebrated 25 years. But what is such a great honor about this award is that it celebrates entrepreneurs who are in the midst of experiencing growth. We were selected based on our leadership, expertise in the art consulting industry, and the positive impact we are making in the lives of our community.
As I look back through the amazing memories 2017 has given me and my company I'm truly humbled by the love of our friends and family, and by the support of our clients and artists.
Here's to you - our incredible clients who choose original art for your space and all the talented artists we work with - we are so grateful to you!
