Sylvia Rombis is the President of the Malton Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Sylvia is a graduate of both the DAAP program and the business school of the University of Cincinnati. She had been an art and design professional for 28 years and the owner of the Malton Gallery for 15 years.

Roy Saper is the creator and owner of Saper Galleries and Custom Framing, a full service fine arts gallery based in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. As CEO, Eric Smith oversees all creative aspects and the production of Artexpo International. East Tennessee natives Jeff and Denise Hood are delighted to share their passion with the local community. The opening of The District Gallery seemed an obvious decision for the couple, an ideal way to blend their two very different careers. Jeff is the creative side of the team, with an education background in graphic arts and over 20 years in the gallery and framing business. He’s framed just about anything you could imagine and has installed artwork from Key West to Canada. Denise is the detail gal of the Hood duo and part owner of Hood and McMasters Court Reporting firm. After 25 years in the court reporting business, Denise’s enthusiasm for building relationships is now spilling over into the art industry. She believes every handcrafted item has a story to tell, a story that bridges the gap between artist and patron. Joanne Chappell, a native of Hammond, Indiana, graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Fine Arts in 1960. In the early years, she taught art and gave private instruction.  In 1968, she opened her first gallery, Editions Limited Galleries, in Indianapolis.  She developed her business skills by conducting art shows and auctions for non-profit groups, among them the Indianapolis Museum and various charities involved with children’s and women’s causes.

Joanne published her first art poster, Golf Classics, by noted sports artist, LeRoy Neiman, in 1972.  The Neiman poster was a wild success and served to launch the Indiana gallery and the basis for the art publishing business she subsequently founded and incorporated as Editions Limited West, Inc after relocating to San Francisco in 1978. From the incredible success of this poster, Joanne developed a strategy of contracting with artists to exclusively market their artwork as posters.  Editions Limited West’s business focus changed from retail and corporate art sales to wholesale publishing and marketing of exclusive posters.  Editions Limited was one of the first fine art wholesale publishers in the industry and remains one of the largest in the US to this day.  In 1999, she moved the company to its current location in Emeryville, historically an artist enclave nestled between Berkeley and Oakland in the San Francisco Bay.

Matt Distel is the recently appointed Exhibition Director of The Carnegie Arts Center. Distel brings a broad range of experience to the position, with a background that includes time at the Contemporary Arts Center and time as director of Country Club, a contemporary art gallery with locations in Cincinnati and Los Angeles. He was also recently named adjunct curator of contemporary art at the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Valerie has over twenty years of experience in the art and design industry.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s School of Art and Design.  She worked for Fleishman-Hillard Inc. where she handled the graphic design accounts for their top client, Anheuser-Busch and its subsidiaries.  She also designed for Ackerman, Hood and McQueen and worked as a freelance makeup artist for three leading cosmetic companies.  Most recently, Valerie has managed three independent art galleries in the Kansas City area over the past fifteen years.

Art Center, founder of Creative Consultant for Idea Seat Marketing & Advertising, Contributor for Italia Arte Magazine, curator and producer of the National Wet Paint MFA Biennial. THE ZHOU B ART CENTER

The Zhou B Art Center was founded in 2004 by the internationally acclaimed Zhou Brothers. Located in Bridgeport, the Zhou B Art Center’s mission is to promote and facilitate a cultural dialogue by organizing contemporary art exhibitions and programs of international scope. As a Center created by artists, for artists, the vision of the Center is to facilitate the exchange of contemporary art between Chicago and the international art community and promote the convergence of Eastern and Western art forms in the United States.

 

The Zhou B Art Center provides galleries, studio spaces, and a collaborative creative environment to a thriving community of talented artists. The primary purpose of the Zhou B Art Center is to nurture the creativity and growth of its nearly 50 resident artists. The Center is also home to some of the most thought-provoking and cutting edge exhibitions in the city. HOHMANN represents a family endeavor in fine art for almost 40 years in both Europe and America. What was founded by Werner and Ursula Hohmann in Germany has continued in the United States with Ursula’s sister Eva Hart and is operated today by the brothers Maximilian Hohmann (Germany) and Christian Hohmann (U.S.A.)

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has recently recognized the longstanding history of the Hohmann family in the art world by registering the name HOHMANN as a trademark.

The gallery in Palm Desert is designed to be an experience for art collectors. The 5,000 SF showroom located on the prestigious El Paseo Drive offers three galleries and an onsite art storage vault with a private viewing room. An uncluttered display and a welcoming atmosphere await the visitor. What makes the gallery different is what you don’t see, which is the work that goes into selecting the artists and individual works before they make it into the gallery. Throughout the season the gallery hosts curated exhibitions as well as a permanent display of gallery artists and selected works by masters of the 20th century.

While the Hohmann family has no program that would limit the gallery to one movement, the requirements to be showcased in the gallery are extremely high and discerning. Contemporary artists are handpicked and thoroughly vetted before being considered for representation. When it comes to secondary market works, only the best quality and impeccable condition are exhibited.  The program is as simple as it is diverse and it is built on the vision of the Hohmann family to find and promote art that lives up to their motto: “Originality, quality, consistency and longevity”.

Barbara Perez comes to the YWCA with more than 30 years of progressive experience leading nonprofit organizations.  Perez most currently served as the Chief Mission Officer for the Arthritis Foundation Great Lakes Region, and prior to that had leadership positions with the Butler and Hamilton County Mental Health Boards, Central Clinic and Cincinnati Behavioral Health.  Throughout her career Barbara has developed and led numerous programs to serve the needs of children, women and families with physical and mental health challenges. Barbara has a deep commitment to inclusion and has demonstrated that by Chairing and participating on the Inclusive Leadership Committee for Leadership Cincinnati for the past seven years.
